Join us for the Opening Reception & Art Market for "Awakening: A Sacred Story of Contemporary Myaamia Art"

Curated by Kathy Carter-Young, Crete Creative President and Myaamia citizen, this exhibition brings together over twenty contemporary Myaamia (Miami) artists. Their artwork highlights the "Awakening" of their native culture and language after decades of dormancy. Before forced removal from their homelands by the US government, the Miami Nation stretched around Lake Michigan - including what is now Crete, Illinois. We will be joined by tribe members and advocates from the Myaamia Center of Miami University, Ohio for an uplifting and educational connection with contemporary Myaamia art and artists.
