
Crete Creative Gallery & School

Crete Creative Gallery and School and The Crete Public Library are pleased to announce a joint photography exhibit and contest, “Farm to Photo”. This show will explore food production of all scales – from backyard gardens to large farms. Photos of plants, animals and the people that tend to them are all welcome. All types of photos (digital, traditional, special processes etc.) are all welcome. Accepted art must be framed and ready to be hung.
Judging: The show will be limited to 20 photographs, chosen by the Gallery Committee of Crete Creative. A Best In Show winner will be also selected by the Gallery Committee. A Public Favorite winner will be chosen by visitors on the opening day of the exhibit.
Entry: A $10 fee for each submission will be required.
Location: Farm to Photo will be displayed at The Crete Public Library, on the second floor.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded for:
-Best in Show – Your own showcase at the Library (Aug. 15 – Sep. 12)
-Public favorite – Gift Basket
Send your name, age, the type of photograph you are submitting, and the name of the piece to farmtophoto@swicago.com
Timeline:
March 13th – The Farm to Photo contest opens
April 17th – Deadline for submissions
April 24th – Participants will be notified if their work was selected for the show
Art Drop of day: May 1st
Showcase open: May 2nd – May 30th
May 9th - Opening Reception (Winner announced)
May 30th - Show closes (Art pickup day)
Rules:
The Photography showcase is open to amateur and professional photographers.
The photographer(s) must be the author(s) of the artwork submitted in his/her/their name.
The photographer must be the copyright holder(s) or have been authorized by the copyright holder(s) to submit the pictures.
Submitted photos must be related to food production, from backyard gardens to large farms.
Pictures can be color or black and white.
6. Pictures must meet the following specifications:
(a) Because of space limitations, artwork cannot be excessively large.
(b) Artwork must be lightweight. (No wood or acrylic prints)
(c) Artwork must be ready to hang.
(d) Artwork must be a Photograph. No collages or paintings will be accepted.
(e) The Library display space is used by children and photos need to be appropriate.
7. Copyright holders retain the copyright of their work. For accepted pictures, copyright holders grant Crete Creative Gallery and School unlimited non-exclusive use of high- resolution pictures for activities in all media, including social media, online and print, in relation to the contest, the exhibition, the yearbook, the public archive, and all promotional and educational activities for and under the auspices of the Crete Creative, without any remuneration being due.
8. The conditions set out in the Entry Rules are binding, and Crete Creative reserves the right to refuse or exclude any entry at its own discretion.
