"A Skewed View" Exhibit Entry
Crete Creative Gallery & School invites you to submit your fiber artwork for A Skewed View art exhibition. We welcome artists of all skill levels to participate.
Please read the full guidelines below to submit.

Skewed Definition: Distorted, altered, deceiving, disfigured; Having an oblique or slanting direction or position.
When looking for inspiration, think of everyday objects, landscapes, structures, or scenes. Use your artistic eye to create your piece that will be slightly hard to recognize at first glance by a viewer.

Jurors
A Skewed View entries will be curated by a committee of Crete Creative volunteers.
Eligibility

All work must be original.*

All work must follow the theme of the exhibit.

All work must be of Fiber content.

FIBER: Natural or Synthetic. Fabric, yarn, fleece etc.

Embellishments and Ephemera permitted

2D, 3D or freestanding

Sizing

Max size: 30 inches x 40 inches

Min size: 10 inches x 10 inches

*A 4 x 6 photo of your "skewed view" inspiration must be submitted with accepted work.
How to Enter
Artist will compose an email, submit images and description of their work, and pay submission fee online using our following guidelines:

Include your full name, contact information, and an Artist Statement of 100 words or less in the body of the email.

Attach two JPG images of each piece you submit to the email:

One picture with a full view of your work

One picture that is a close up of your work
-
Prefer that images be up to 1200 px long

Each piece must be titled. Each image should be labeled to include your full last name and first initial of first name:

Example: "Quilt by Sam Smith" - SmithD.jpg

Indicate which pieces are for sale and a price. Mark not for sale as NFS.

Up to 3 pieces can be submitted by one artist for consideration. Please include everything in one email.

Important Dates

Exhibition Announcement: October 20th, 2022

Deadline to submit: February 20th, 2023

Notification of acceptance: Feb 27th, 2023

Delivery of artwork to gallery: May 13th & 14th, 2023

If art is being shipped, it must be received during: April 20th to 24th, 2023. Shipping instructions will be provided if applicable; all shipped items must include a prepaid return label from the artist.

Exhibition dates: May 18th through July 1st, 2023

Opening reception: Saturday, May 20th, 2023, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at our gallery

Pick-up of Artwork: July 1st & 2nd, 2023
Equipment and Instructions
You should be prepared to provide all equipment and instructions necessary to display your art in the gallery space, as needed. Works that will be hung on a wall must be fitted with wire or “D” rings.
Authorship and Ownership
By entering a work, you represent that you are its creator and that you either own the work or have the permission of the owner to enter it for presentation.
Loan Agreements
Artists will be required to complete a loan agreement, including specification of insurance value, before acceptance of a work is final.
Reproductions and Publicity
By entering your work and providing images and other documentation, you agree that any images and other materials you provide may be reproduced and published in the Crete Creative Biennial promotional and press materials and distributed via the websites and social media channels. You also agree that images of your work may be reproduced in the context of the exhibition and its promotion by third parties such as journalists.
Sale of Work
All work included in the exhibition must have a value for insurance purposes. If you agree, your work may also be considered available for purchase. Crete Creative will receive a 20% commission on works sold during the exhibition. Works not for sale must be marked NFS.

Crete Creative is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the creative arts in and around Crete, IL. Crete Creative produces solo and group exhibits, teaches classes for all ages, and provides workspace to local artists.
