Crete Creative Gallery and School is a nonprofit organization dedicated to showcasing artists from both near and far. We believe that culture and the arts should be available to everyone. Talent is not reserved for big cities and neither is a love, an interest, or a passion for the arts...
Current Exhibition:
"Awakening: A Sacred Story of Contemporary Myaamia Art"
Curated by Kathy Carter Young, this groundbreaking group showcase brings together over 20 Myaamia (Miami Tribe) artists from across the country. Through their artwork, they explore the revitalization of their people's dormant language, arts and culture. Before forced removal by the US Government, their homelands surrounded Lake Michigan - including what is now Crete, Illinois!
An Opening Reception & Art Market will be held on May 10th, 2025
@ 11 AM to 2:30 PM

We will have many free activities for the community to enjoy such as an art project, a chalk pastel mural, and a Myaamia Speaker Presentation @ 1:30 - 2:30
We will be joined by artist, tribe members, and advocates for an artistic celebration like no other!

from our Founder and Board of Directors...
In 2024, Crete Creative began our close partnership with the Crete Public Library for exhibition and event space. This change has been welcomed warmly by the community we love so much and the artists who make our organization possible. As 2025 draws nearer, we're proud to announce that more local partnerships are being built to spread our mission to every corner of Crete! Now, more than ever, artistic expression and education are vital for amplifying each person's voice, giving them the tools they desire to share their story and create a stronger community - together!
